The exam for customs agents that was set for Saturday has been canceled. The customs agency has published a notification delaying the inspection, according to a short-term temporary ruling given by the Patan High Court. The examination has been postponed till further notice by the department.
On Thursday, Justice Bhojraj Adhikari’s single bench ordered the examination to be postponed till March 20.
Christina Thaiba filed a writ suit against the Customs Department a year ago, claiming that the information supplied by the Customs Department was not proportionate or inclusive in accordance with Article 42 of Nepal’s Constitution.
The court has ordered the respondent to come before the court on March 20, stating that it would be appropriate to consider with both parties whether to give an interim relief as requested by the writ petitioner.
The test was postponed to June 5, 2021, owing to a corona infection. The examination planned for February 12, 2022, was also postponed as a result.
The applicants had previously staged a sit-in at the customs department, claiming that the test had been postponed in the old customs agent’s interest.
An application for a customs agent’s license was submitted on March 30, 2021. A total of 9,500 people applied for 660 positions. Customs agents make it easier for exporters and importers to do their jobs.
