Internal conversations are taking place within the CPN-Maoist, which is ready to abandon the government. The leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) previous standing committee are meeting in Khumaltar at the mansion of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

The discussion, according to one of the leaders, was focused on the state of the ruling coalition, the MCC, and the government’s exit. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman Prachanda will meet on Thursday at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar, according to the leaders.

Prachanda had stated during the debate that the Maoists could not collaborate on the MCC
problem, but it was decided that they would now go their own way.

After Deuba and Prachanda’s meeting on Thursday, Maoist center leader Giriraj Mani Pokharel told the media that the alliance’s parties had agreed to split up.

”I understand that we will be going in a cordial atmosphere after the meetings between the Prime Minister and our President,” Pokhrel stated. ”Deuba’s position of passing the MCC and departing has reached a stage where we cannot achieve a deal without amendment,” he continued.

Following the same conclusion, Prime Minister Deuba requested that the House of
Representatives meeting set for Thursday be postponed for one day. Soon after, Deuba met
with the CPN-UML, the main opposition party.
