opposition CPN-UML, to discuss issues such as the approval of the Millennium Challenge
Corporation (MCC) compact agreement, which was tabled in parliament.
Minister Khand met Maoist Center Chairman Dahal at his residence in Khumaltar and UML
Chairman Oli at Balkot, according to the Home Minister’s Secretariat. They discussed the
country’s current political situation, including ending the House of Representatives’ stalemate and getting parliament to approve the MCC agreement.
Following the presentation of the MCC Agreement in the House of Representatives on February 20, intensive discussions were underway between the ruling party and the opposition parties for the ratification of the compact agreement.
According to the MCC agreement, the government must approve the deal by February 28 for the project to move forward.
The government has continued its attempts to bring all political parties together to establish a united front in support of the project’s approval before the deadline.
