Prime Minister Deuba and Prachanda hold talks; meeting of the coalition to be held at 5 pm

Kathmandu, February 17

A meeting has been held between Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday morning.

According to Baluwatar sources, the meeting held this morning did not strike chords on the issue as both the leaders stick to their respective stances. Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba wants to table the MCC in a meeting of the House of Representatives while Prachanda is in favor of tabling it with the consensus from the ruling coalition.

Meanwhile, the ruling coalition meeting called for 3 pm today has been rescheduled for 5 pm in a bid to reach a consensus on the MCC. The Maoist has warned to leave the government if the Prime Minister forcibly tabled the agreement in the parliament.
