UML will boycott the all-party meeting convened by the Speaker

The main opposition party CPN-UML is set to boycott the all-party meeting convened by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota on Monday. After the impeachment was registered, Speaker Sapkota convened an all-party meeting to form an impeachment advisory committee.

CPN-UML leader and MP Sher Bahadur Tamang said that UML would boycott the all-party meeting convened by the speaker.  “UML will not attend that meeting. Because we have been disagreeing with the Speaker. There is no point in going to the meeting convened by him again when there is disagreement with him,” said Tamang.

According to CPN-UML sources, the party is also preparing to file an impeachment motion against Speaker Sapkota today.

A leader close to UML chairperson KP Oli said, “There is a possibility of impeachment against the Speaker himself. That process could move forward after today’s parliamentary party meeting. The speaker is like a spokesperson for one of the parties. His behavior did not uplift the dignity of the House.”

A meeting of the UML secretariat held on Sunday evening concluded that the ruling party had moved the impeachment motion against the chief justice intending to attack democracy, the federal democratic republic, and the destabilizing political system and creating controlled instability.
