Nepali train parked at Inerwa station in Dhanusha is operating from today.
The train from Janakpurdham to Kurtha via Jayanagar in India will return to Jayanagar again today. The Nepal Railway Company has stated that there is no plan to carry passengers even if the train runs.
Niranjan Jha, general manager of the railway company, said that the train will reach Janakpurdham in one hour and return to Jayanagar after reaching Kurtha. He said that the train would run for about 10 days.
He said that the train has been running for more than 18 months to understand the technical situation. “We are running daily trains to understand the technical condition of the railways,” said Jha.
He said that the train was being run as a test to keep the train in good condition before carrying the passengers. He said that the purpose of the train was to evacuate the encroached railway tracks, close the unauthorized roads, raise awareness to stop the haat, and make the employees accustomed.
The Nepali train purchased from India on 18 September 2020 is parked at the Inerwa station in Dhanusha.
Preparations have been made to formally inaugurate the stalled train in the second week of February. Discussions are underway in this regard and the Prime Ministers of Nepal and India will jointly inaugurate the railway through virtual means, said General Manager Jha.
For the operation of the railway, the department has appointed 59 employees on a daily wage basis and 26 employees have been called from India. According to the department, 12 of them have arrived and 12 will return after the operation.
Three station masters, 10 ticket sellers, and two TTs have been appointed to operate the train. General Manager Jha said that most of the ticket sellers were women.
