Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called this morning to the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba that he will not stay in the government and the coalition if the MCC is to be passed.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal is angry with Prime Minister Deuba for realizing that Deuba has embarrassed him by publcising the letter dated September 29, 2021, with a plan to return the MCC by lingering. Chairman Dahal said that Prime Minister Deuba was in favor of passing the MCC anyway, but Dahal was ready to leave the government and the coalition but was not in favor of passing the MCC. I had asked leader Dev Prasad Gurung about this some time ago. Leader Gurung replied: A few days ago, when the Prime Minister asked to pass the MCC at any cost, at that time we said that we will leave the government rather than pass the MCC, then it was agreed to amend the MCC, not to table it immediately and to continue the discussion. The Prime Minister had said that the MCC would not be passed until the five-party agreement was reached. Again, if there is an attempt to pressure or table to pass the MCC, we will not agree. We protest remaining outside the government.’

Prachanda has told Prime Minister Deuba “Publicising the letter after the time spent means trying to pass the MCC by exerting pressure. That is not acceptable under any circumstances.”

Today, the letter written by Prime Minister Deuba and Chairman Prachanda to MCC became public in various media then Prachanda called Deuba and said, “It is clear that you are in favor of passing the MCC anyway.” If you want so, then pass it keeping coaliation with KP Sharma Oli. We will not stay in government.’

Lately, Prime Minister Deuba has been seen in favor of passing the MCC anyway. Even the CPN (UML) is ready to help to pass the MCC, but the condition is to break the current alliance of the government. Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Prachanda has been urging the Prime Minister to pass the MCC after the next election in order to save the ruling coalition and lingering in the name of amendment procedures.
