CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has challenged UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to fulfill his commitment with the US to pass the MCC.
Oli has challenged Prachanda to fulfill his commitment, saying he would pass the MCC after the ruling parties remove KP Oli from the PM’s job.
Prachanda had called Oli on Thursday evening saying that he had decided to pass the MCC. Oli replied that it was up to the ruling parties to decide.
”The MCC that you brought earlier, when I pushed it forward, turned it into a weapon against me. You have told the US ambassador that you will pass the MCC after removing Oli from the PM’s post for the tenth time. The other is that you have submitted it in writing, ”said Bishnu Rijal, deputy chief of the UML’s propaganda department, quoting Oli’s statement. Why do you divide the people?’
Prachanda had proposed to Oli to jointly tell the United States that the MCC should be decided by all parties now or passed after the election. In response, Oli responded that the MCC was like an aura for the Maoists.
”You are now holding a saw called MCC in your hand. Going back, America has shown the rod, ”Oli told Prachanda.
Pressure on the parties has increased after US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lule called Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, and UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairman Prachanda and warned them to withdraw and reconsider their relationship with Nepal if the MCC is not approved by Falgun 16. Due to the same pressure, Prachanda had called Oli.
Though UML is in favor of passing MCC, it does not want to clear its position right now. Leaders say that the UML will decide the next strategy by sitting on the bottom line that the MCC should also pass and the alliance should also be broken.
