Instructions to close Hotel Yak & Yeti, ‘Five Star’ classification also canceled

Kathmandu, February 10

The Department of Tourism has instructed not to operate Hotel Yak & Yeti and its casino at Durbar Marg, Kathmandu.

The Department of Tourism has directed to close the hotels and casinos, saying that the royalty and license renewal fee of Rs 422,568,253 is yet to be paid by the hotels and casinos. The hotel has been taken action by the ministerial decision saying that the royalty has not been paid despite repeated notifications and letters.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale had decided on Magh 25 to block the real estate of the hotel and stop the transactions in banks and financial institutions as he had repeatedly written to pay the remaining royalty and renewal fee and ignored the public notice in Gorkhapatra. It is mentioned in the letter written by the tourism department that Minister Ale has also decided to revoke the five-star hotel classification certificate.

”Hotels and casinos are advised not to operate,” the letter said.
