Heavy snowfall in Humla since Thursday evening has affected people’s lives. Even though the snowfall has stopped since Saturday morning, the daily life of the locals has become difficult due to the cold.
It has become more difficult to move from one place to another. About one and a half feet of snow has frozen in the district headquarters Simkot while two feet more snow has fallen in Hocho. The temperature in the district has reached minus 9 degrees.
The only air service connecting the inter-district of Humla has been disrupted due to heavy
snowfall for the past two days. The only means of transport that has been flying daily due to the snowfall has been shut down.
It is seen that there will be shortage of various materials when the air service does not fly.
Passengers leaving the district have also been affected due to the disruption of air service. Due to the snowfall, the daily necessities of the market traders have become scarce. The daily supply of vegetables and meat from Nepalgunj and Surkhet has come to a standstill.
The Kharpu road section, which is about 11 kilometers from the district headquarters Simkot, has also been blocked. Short-distance vehicles are unable to operate due to heavy snowfall.
More than four feet of snow has fallen in North Namkha village of Humla district. As Namkha is one of the highest municipalities of the district, it receives the highest amount of snowfall in the district. Due to heavy snowfall in this area, it has become difficult to reach from one village to another. Hilsa, Nyalu, Yari and other areas have been closed.
