Taliban member meets with Western official today

Taliban members will meet with Western officials in Norway today. This is the first meeting
between Western officials and Taliban members since taking control of Afghanistan. The three-day meeting is expected to focus on human rights and humanitarian issues.

According to the United Nations, about 95 percent of Afghanistan’s population does not have enough food.

However, some in Europe are protesting against the meeting with the Taliban. Demonstrations are also being held in some places. According to the protesters, such a meeting with the Taliban should not be given importance.

On Sunday, members of the Taliban also met with human rights activists. However, no
information has been made public about the issue they discussed. Jamila Afghani, a feminist activist, told AFP that there was a possibility of a dialogue with her. “We have to see if they can do what they said they would do in the future,” he said.

Monday’s meeting between Taliban members and European officials is expected to be the most important. The Taliban will certainly ask for billions of dollars, which is currently withheld.
