US orders relatives of embassy staff to leave Ukraine

The US State Department has ordered the release of relatives of its embassy staff in Ukraine.
The US State Department’s order comes amid growing tensions in the region amid concerns that Russia could invade Ukraine.

The US State Department has also allowed non-essential staff members to leave Ukraine. It has also called on US citizens to leave Ukraine. A statement from Russia said that Russia had launched an attack on Ukraine. Russia has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating “Similar, baseless allegations concerning Russia’s intelligence have been made more than once.

The US State Department has said that the security situation in Ukraine is “unpredictable” and that it could be “extremely dangerous” on the basis of general information. A NATO chief has warned that a new conflict could erupt in Europe with the deployment of 100,000 Russian troops near the Ukrainian border.

On Saturday, about 90 tons of US-supplied arms arrived in Ukraine. Earlier, US Secretary of
State Anthony Blinken said the United States would soon impose sanctions on Russia over its hostile attitude towards Russia. He asserted that Russia’s defenses could be weakened if such measures were taken in time.
