UML-LSP alliance in National Assembly elections

Kathmandu, January 20

An alliance will be formed between the CPN-UML and the Democratic Socialist Party (LOSPA) for the National Assembly elections.

At a press conference in Janakpur on Friday, the leaders of both the parties informed that the alliance has been agreed upon. The two parties have agreed to support UML candidate Usman Ansari on the other side of Madhes Pradesh and Rupakumari Yadav on the women’s side.

UML had fielded Bina Devi Sah as its candidate from the women’s side while Lospa had fielded a candidate from the other side.

Election for the 19th National Assembly is being held on 12 February, out of which women and other groups will be elected from two states. Urmila Aryal of the UCPN (Maoist) and
Mohammad Khalid of the Janata Samajwadi Party have nominated candidates from the ruling coalition in Madhes.

Although the LSP and UML have formed an alliance, the ruling alliance remains strong.
