The process of promotion of 20,000 lower-level security personnel of the police has started

As soon as the Council of Ministers amends the Police Regulations, 20,594 security personnel working below the rank of Inspector of Nepal Police will be promoted. Police Spokesperson (SSP) Bishnu KC said that the Police Headquarters has started the process for promotion to Assistant Constable, Senior Constable and Senior SI.

“The Ninth Amendment to the Police Regulations is in the process of being promoted. We can be promoted to the post as per the amended rules in three months,” said Police Spokesperson KC. At present, there are 47,053 police personnel including trainees. Of them, 33 percent or 15 thousand 527 are being promoted to assistant constables.

The Police Headquarters is preparing to promote 25 percent of the constables to the rank of
senior constable. At present, there are 14 thousand 989 constables. Of them, 3,747 are
promoted to senior constables. Similarly, 1,320 candidates are vying for the post of Senior
Superintendent of Police. At present, there are 4,296 SIs working in the police. Of them, 33
percent or 1,320 are promoted to senior.
