PCR charges have been reduced following the directive of Prime Minister Deuba

The fee for PCR testing of Covid-19 infection has been reduced following the directive of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Prime Minister Deuba had instructed Health and Population Minister Birodh Khatiwada and
Health Secretary Dr Roshan Pokharel to reduce the fee for PCR in private hospitals and labs.

As per the directive, the Ministry of Health has reduced the fee for PCR test today. Now, it has been decided that patients admitted to government hospitals will be given free PCR test and those who only do the test will not be allowed to take more than Rs 800. Earlier, a government hospital used to charge Rs 1,000 for a PCR test.

Similarly, the Ministry of Health has decided that private hospitals and labs will not be allowed to charge more than Rs 1,500. Earlier, the fee for private PCR test was Rs 2,000.
