India defeated by South Africa

South Africa beat India by 31 runs in their first ODI. India, who had set a winning target of 297 at Boland Park, lost eight wickets in 50 overs and were all out for 265 runs.

India’s opener Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 79 runs. Shardul Thakur remained unbeaten on 50 runs. Similarly, former captain Virat Kohli contributed 51 runs. South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi, Tabrez Shamsi and Andile Fehlukvayo took two wickets apiece. Similarly, Aiden Markram and Keshav Maharaj took 1-1 wickets. Earlier, winning the toss and choosing to bat, South Africa lost 4 wickets in 50 overs and scored 296 runs.

Rassie van der Dussen top-scored with 129 runs. Similarly, captain Temba Bavuma contributed 110 runs. India’s Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin took 1 wicket. With the win, South Africa has taken a 1-0 lead in three ODIs. The second game will be on Friday.
