Conflict has been seen between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance over the posts of three Additional Inspector Generals (AIGs) being added to the Nepal Police. The proposal for additional posts had reached the Council of Ministers without the approval of the finance minister. The proposal has been returned to the House saying that approval of the money is required.
After the Ministry of Finance was reluctant to add posts due to lack of budget, the Ministry of Home Affairs had sent it directly to the Council of Ministers. The proposal was returned to the Home Ministry after the Council of Ministers asked for the approval of the Finance Ministry and it is claimed that the approval will come from the Finance Ministry on the same day.
“The file goes to the Finance Ministry today. In a few days, the posts will be added. When the Prime Minister said to add, others did not stop,” said a Home Ministry official. The Police
Headquarters had recently sent an organization management and survey to add three AIGs to the Home Ministry.
