More than 20,000 junior police officers have been promoted once the police regulations have been amended and published in the Gazette.
The Police Headquarters has claimed that the tendency of leaving the job without promotion for a long time will decrease after the government amends the Police Regulations-2071 BS and publishes it in the Gazette on Monday. While working in the same post for a long time, junior police officers and other ranks of police personnel resigned from the organization and started looking for better opportunities elsewhere.
After the implementation of the amended regulations from Tuesday, the Police Headquarters has started the work accordingly. Police spokesperson Bishnu KC informed that two persons were promoted from Assistant Inspector of Police to Deputy Inspector of Police on Tuesday.
Both the promoted officers have been given compulsory leave since Tuesday. Netra Bahadur Jargha and Hem Bahadur Adhikari have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector of Police. Police spokesperson KC said that if the amended police regulations are not implemented, they will get unconditional leave from the Assistant Inspector of Police.
The Nepal Police had recommended to the Ministry of Home Affairs to add three more levels saying that the morale of the employees was declining due to lack of promotion for a long time.
After the government amended the police regulations, 15,527 out of 46,000 police personnel who met the criteria will now be promoted to assistant constables.
