Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police Bishnu Kumar KC said that the recent amendment of the police regulations has added motivation and moral strength to the lower-level police personnel.
At a press meet held at the Police Headquarters, Spokesperson KC said that the three posts
added by the last amendment to the Police Regulations have given more energy to the police personnel who have been working in the same post for 20 years. “This has given equal opportunity to the police personnel for professional development and has also put an end to the situation where they have to stay in the same post for a long time,” KC said.
He said that the addition of the post would make a difference in the service facilities of the
police personnel and also boost the morale of the police. The posts of Assistant Constable,
Senior Constable and Senior Inspector of Police have been added in the police. The regulations have been amended to promote five-year-old police constables to assistant constables, police constables to senior police constables and police deputy inspectors to senior police deputy inspectors.
Spokesperson KC said that five levels of office assistants have been added to the police
regulations. With the addition of three levels to amend the Police Regulations, the existing
manpower will now be promoted 33 percent to Assistant Police Constable, 25 percent to Senior Police Constable and 33 percent to Senior Police Deputy Inspector.
At present, Nepal Police has 47,053 police personnel, 14,989 police constables and 4,296 police deputy inspectors. Earlier, the police personnel up to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police, who had been holding the same post for 12 years, would be automatically promoted one month before the retirement.
Now, an arrangement has been made to automatically give one level promotion to the police who retire after holding the same post for eight years. Spokesperson KC said that the arrangement has given self-confidence to the police personnel.
