Development work in the Himalayan district Manang has come to a standstill due to snow and cold. The construction work has been stopped due to snow and cold. Chief District Officer of Manang, Rabindra Prasad Acharya, said that the construction work of bridges, roads and other structures damaged due to the severe floods and landslides on Ashad 1 was halted due to snowfall.
He said, “At a time when the construction of roads and bridges destroyed by the Ashad 1 floods needs to be intensified, the development work has been affected due to the snowfall after the cold snap.”
Construction work could not be carried out due to floods and landslides in the summer.
According to Chief District Officer, Acharya, the construction work has been halted due to
snowfall in winter.
According to him, due to the snowfall, it is not possible to bring the necessary materials for
development and the materials kept are frozen due to the snowfall. With the snowfall in
Manang, the temperature has dropped to minus.
Floods and landslides in Manang have caused more damage to physical infrastructure this year than in previous years. The construction work of the physical infrastructure damaged by the floods and landslides is also in a state of neglect. “Both the snow and monsoon seasons in Manang are not accompanied by good weather,” said Chandra Ghale, chairman of Naso village in Manang.
Development work in Manang has been stopped since the end of Mangsir. Snow had fallen in Upper Manang from the third week of Mangsir.
