The Sukilumba Airport here will be operational soon. For this, an agreement has been signed between Ilam Municipality and Tara Air Pvt.
It has been decided that the flight will land every Sunday from next Falgun 8. The municipality has signed agreements for 12 flights. The one-way fare of a 16-passenger capacity ship has been fixed at Rs. 8,700. As per the agreement, Ilam Municipality will have to pay the fare for 11/11 people.
The municipality has provided concessions for one-way fares and two-way flights. City Chief
Mahesh Basnet informed that passengers will get both round-trip tickets after the ticket is sold at Rs. 8,700. The agreement is currently for three weeks. An agreement has been reached to operate regularly for at least three months.
According to the agreement, if the price of fuel changes during this period, the fare will be
adjusted accordingly. Last Chaitra, the airport was ready for take-off and landing. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the airport is ready for take-off and landing.
The 670-meter-long and 20-meter-wide runway of the airport has been tarred. According to NEA, about Rs. 280 million has been spent for the construction of the airport so far. A test flight was conducted at the airport on Jesth 21, 2075. After the operation of the airport, the residents of Ilam, Panchthar, Taplejung and Darjeeling, Sikkim of India will be facilitated.
