Kathmandu, January 17
Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 to win the Super Cup.
Luka Modric and Karim Benzema scored to give Real the win in Sunday night’s final.
Real have won the Super Cup for the 12th time. Barcelona have won the title a maximum of 13 times.
Modric scored in the 38th minute of the game at the King Fayed Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi
Arabia, to give Real the lead. In the 52nd minute, Benzema scored from the penalty spot to
make Real the champions.
In the 87th minute of the game, Eder Militao received a red card and Real was reduced to 10 players.
Raul Garcia of Bilbao missed a penalty in the 89th minute. His shot was stopped by Real
goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
