Kathmandu, January 16

The government has urged India to stop construction and expansion of unilateral roads in
Nepali territory.

The government’s silence on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on road expansion in the Lipulek area was questioned. Announcing the government’s opinion on Sunday, Minister for Communications Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani east of the Mahakali River are integral parts of Nepal. He also said that he has been urging India to stop construction and expansion of any kind of unilateral road passing through Nepali territory.

He also said that the government was committed to resolving the border issue between the
two countries through diplomatic means based on historical facts and evidence.
