Nine killed in train accident in Jalpaiguri, India

Kathmandu, January 14

Nine people have been killed in a train accident in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, India. 36 people have been injured.

Nine people were killed when a Guwahati-Bikaner Express train crashed on Thursday evening, the Indian news agency ANI reported, citing Union Minister John Ballara.

The injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. The other passengers who were safe have been sent to Guwahati by arranging another train.

Twelve coaches of the train have been derailed. A high-level investigation into the incident has been launched, according to Indian media.
