Preparation of another law to repeal CTEVT

Kathmandu, January 13

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has prepared another act to repeal the
Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

The Ministry has drafted the Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development
Training Bill by repealing the current Technical Education and Vocational Training Council Act, 2045 BS.

The current CTEVT will be repealed after the bill is passed by the parliament and another
structure will be set up to work on technical and vocational education and skills development, the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development Training (CTEVT).

The CTEVT will be chaired by the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, while the Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, two of the Ministers for Education in all the states, members of the Public Service Commission and one of the Vice-Chancellors of the University are proposed to be members. Similarly, the executive power is envisaged to be the chief executive officer.

CTEVT Member Secretary Jiva Narayan Kafle said that he has heard that the new bill has been drafted. He said, ”We have heard that the bill has been drafted. It is also being heard that the Council of Ministers has reached to pass the bill. It should not be passed without a broad discussion. ”
