Singh first DIG from Madhesi women: Memorandum of thanks to Home Minister

A delegation from Saptari led by Nepali Congress central member Dinesh Yadav has thanked Home Minister Bal Krishna Khan for promoting Pooja Singh to the post of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police.

The delegation met Home Minister Khan at the Ministry and thanked him for promoting DIG
from Madhes women for the first time. “We have come to thank the Home Minister and the
government for promoting Madhesi Woman Singh to the post of Deputy Inspector General. We also met the Prime Minister and thanked him. The government has done an exemplary job,” said Congress central member Yadav.

Singh, who entered the service as a police inspector, is known in the police organization as an officer performing excellent duties. The Home Ministry had promoted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Singh to the post of Police DIG. Singh, who works in the Administration Division of the Police Headquarters, was earlier the head of the federal unit in Gandaki.

When Singh was the Superintendent of Police, she was in charge of Kavre and the then Eastern Regional Traffic Police Office, Sunsari. Singh was the first in the open competition for the post of police inspector. Singh also served as a woman commander in the Sudan Mission.
