Finance Minister instructs ministries to make 100% capital expenditure within 6 months

Kathmandu, January 11

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has urged the ministries to make 100% capital expenditure in the remaining six months of the fiscal year 2078-079.

He made this request to the secretaries at a review meeting of the expenditure for the fiscal year 2078-079 BS held at the ministry on Tuesday. He said he was ready to help at midnight if needed.

”Six months of the fiscal year have passed and we have to spend 100% of our budget in the remaining six months,” he said.

Minister Sharma urged to find other ways to spend the budget. He stressed on the need to
move ahead with the big plan by involving the local level and local people. He says that only by involving them in the big projects can work be done quickly.

He also pointed out the need to improve the existing system. He said that it would be slow to carry the file in every ministry and now it should be taken to digital medium.

‘It takes a couple of days to go to the department, ministry carrying the file. Here, too, time is running out, ”he said.” It had to be taken digitally. You have to request and accept digitally. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. ”

Lately, the Ministry of Finance has been pointing out other ministries to increase capital
expenditure. Meanwhile, as of Monday, capital expenditure was 9.39 percent, current
expenditure was 38.9 percent and financial expenditure was 25.41 percent. Overall, 29.11
percent of the budget has been spent so far.
