Tensions rise in UK PM

Kathmandu, January 11

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has become even more tense after an email came out inviting more than 100 employees to a party during the first lockdown.

In an emailed leak, more than 100 staff members at the Prime Minister’s Office on Downing Street were asked to bring their own liquor for a party during the first lockdown in Britain. The email was sent to employees in May 2020.

About 40 people, including Johnson and his wife Carrie, attended the banquet in the garden
inside the prime minister’s office. It was the first time in the UK that a ban was imposed on a party with alcohol.

However, Johnson was further criticized after an email was leaked stating that no more than two people were allowed to gather at the party.

The public outcry has also escalated after the fact that government officials themselves did not follow the restrictive rules regarding covid. The Johnson-led government has said it has not violated COVID-19 standards.

Senior government official Sue Gray is currently investigating the May 20 banquet. London
police have also stated that they are in touch with the Prime Minister’s Office.

Opposition leaders, meanwhile, have lashed out at Johnson over allegations that senior
officials, including the prime minister, held various rallies in violation of the Covid-19 ban. The Labor Party has accused Johnson of disregarding the Covid-19 rule.

”Boris Johnson is constantly ignoring the rules he has brought for the rest of the people,” said Angela Rainer, Labor’s deputy leader. Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davy also said the banquet at the Prime Minister’s Office was an insult to those who had sacrificed so much during the epidemic.

”This is further evidence that the staff of No. 10 (Prime Minister’s Office) violated the rules while most people were following the rules,” Davy said. He said Joe Johnson should be questioned during the investigation into the May 20 banquet and other gatherings at the Prime Minister’s Office. (From agency).
