Book exhibition on the occasion of National Unity Day

On the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Prithvinarayan Shah, the hero of Nepal
Unification Campaign, Nepal Pragya-Pratishthan has started a book exhibition with the
objective of developing reading culture.

The exhibition includes 490 types of books and magazines including literature, criticism,
children’s literature, lexicon, fiction, poetry, history, folklore, culture, fine arts, music and
various journals. Books will be sold at 15 to 40 percent discount in the exhibition. Manager of the exhibition Sudhir Dhungel informed that 15 percent discount has been given to those who buy one Nepali Comprehensive Dictionary and 20 percent discount to those who buy two. The exhibition is planned to run for 15 days.

He also said that the period could be extended if the desire of the readers increased. Books and magazines published by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and Nepal Academy of Music and Drama and Cultural Institute are also on display. Up to 50 percent concession has been given for the publication of Lalitakala Pragya-Pratishthan.

Inaugurating the book exhibition, Vice-Chancellor Ganga Prasad Upreti said that the 15-day
program would be useful to provide information about the new publications of the foundation.

He informed that the duration of the exhibition will be extended if the interest of the readers increases.

On the occasion of Earth Day and National Unity Day, all the three institutes and cultural
institutes have organized a lecture program on the participation of different communities in the integration campaign on Monday. On this occasion, an art exhibition has been started at Nepal Academy of Fine Arts from today.

According to Upreti, a cultural rally will be held at the west main gate of Singha Durbar on
January 10 and a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the statue of Prithvinarayan Shah. On the same day, a cultural program with various cultural tableaux of Nepal will be organized in the hall of the institute.
