Nepali Congress leader Nain Singh Mahar has said that educational institutions should be closed for 15 days considering the risk of a new variant of corona virus Omicron.
Speaking at a program organized by the Central Committee of the Tharu Students’ Association in Kathmandu, Mahar said that children should be protected from the danger of corona in the country.
“We have not been able to provide vaccines to all children under the age of 18. Corona infection has intensified in neighbouring India and Nepal is also at high risk. In such a situation, it would be better to close the educational institution for 15 days to save the children,” said Mahar.
He said that it was necessary for the local, state and central governments to adopt a policy of corona prevention as soon as possible in consultation with the concerned bodies. As health precautions and vaccination are the best options for controlling the corona epidemic, Mahar said the government should focus on making the vaccine easily accessible to all.
