In India, more than 1.5 million corona infections were added in a single day

With the onset of the third wave in neighboring India, the number of Covid-19 infections has risen sharply.

In the last 24 hours, 159,632 new infections have been reported in India, according to Indian media. Similarly, 40,863 people were infected and 327 died during the period.

As of Sunday, the number of people infected with the new Omicron variant of Covid-19 had
reached 3,623. So far, this variant has been spread in 27 states.

Maharashtra has the highest number of Omicron infections. The number of infected people of this variant has reached 1 thousand 9. In the second place, Delhi, 513 people have so far confirmed the Omicron variant.

Currently, the number of infected people in India is 590,611. Strict measures have been taken in many states of India after the number of infected people started increasing suddenly. Curfew has been imposed in Delhi and Karnataka two days a week (Saturday and Sunday) and in Tamil Nadu from today a complete curfew has been imposed on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Professor Maninder Agrawal of IIT Kanpur said that the number of covid infections in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai could skyrocket by the middle of this month. He estimates that the number of people infected daily in the third wave has almost doubled from the second wave to 800,000.
