The main opposition party CPN (UML) has unanimously elected its leadership in Saptari district convention. A closed session of the convention held late on Saturday formed a 131-member district committee under the chairmanship of Tara Kant Chaudhary.
He was a member of the then Constituent Assembly. After the split of the CPN (Maoist), he
became the chairperson of the district committee on Baishakh 22, 2078. Abdul Majid Sakir has been elected as the vice chairman, Devnath Yadav as the secretary, Akhilesh Jha and Kusum Acharya as the deputy secretaries of the newly elected committee.
Similarly, Brijnarayan Sah, Yukti Marik, Bindi Mochi, Vir Bahadur Marsangdi Magar, Devnarayan Shrestha, Badrinarayan Chaudhary, Chandraman Vik, Chauthilal Khang, Laxmi Mandal, Shobhananda Rai, Dambar Prasad Mahato, Salim Rain, Mahendra Narayan Paswan, Durgananda Thakur, Wiltu Das, Ayu. , Pradeep Mandal, Uttam Acharya, Shivnarayan Sah, Ramlagan Sardar, Mahendra Biraji, Bindu Sada, Devnarayan Marik, Panchadev Khang, Inravati Yadav, Harishankar Ishar, Dambar Rai, Rajendra Century, Santaman Tamang, Samu Khatun, Lalit Narayan Rajkal and others.
Similarly, a 23-member advisory committee has been formed including Shankar Dev, Manju
Sah, Bhola Raut, Kunjilal Chaudhary, Mo Younis, Chitrakala Magar, Ram Briksh Mahato, Bhuvan KC, Shatrughan Prasad Yadav and Magain Mandal. The newly elected committee was administered the oath of office and secrecy by UML Secretary and State 2 in-charge Raghuvir Mahaseth.
