Re-opening of Chinese border checkpoints

Re-opening of Chinese border checkpoints

Tatopani and Rasuwagadhi checkpoints connecting Nepal and China have been re-opened.
Goods could not reach Nepal from both the checkpoints due to snowfall.

According to the customs official, 10 containers arrived in Nepal from Tatopani checkpoint in Bhotekoshi Gaonpalika-2 on Friday alone after heavy snow covered the road.

According to Narad Gautam, chief customs officer at the Tatopani Dry Port and Customs Office, about 100 containers weighing up to 120 CBM were stopped at the Nyalam and Khasa van parking lots as the road was filled with 4 feet of snow. As soon as the snowfall is reduced, they will be loaded and brought to Nepal.

Earlier, the Tatopani checkpoint was closed due to heavy snowfall in Khasa and Nyalam areas of China. Containers have started moving from Friday.

Similarly, Rasuwagadhi checkpoint, which was blocked due to snowfall and dry landslides, has also come into operation. The Syaphrubeshi-Rasuwagadhi section of the highway has been fully operational since Friday after the obstruction was removed.

According to the local administration, all kinds of vehicles including passenger buses and
container boxes carrying goods imported from China started moving freely as soon as the
highway was opened.
