Conclusion of the Maoist Center: The MCC agreement cannot be passed in the status quo

The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) has concluded that the US-backed Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement cannot be passed in the status quo. In the current political resolution passed by the 8th National General Convention of the Maoist Center, it is mentioned that the MCC agreement cannot be passed in the status quo.

“Some provisions of the agreement between the Government of Nepal and the MCC, which are under serious national and international discussion, should not be passed in the status quo as they are seen to be detrimental to nationality, sovereignty, independence and interests.” It is mentioned in the current political resolution passed.

The Maoist Center has demanded that all political parties, the government and the parliament, including the entire parliament, reach a national consensus on the MCC issue.

Even before this, the Maoists have been standing in favor of passing the MCC agreement only after amending it. The Maoist center has demanded the government to include the full map passed by the federal parliament in the curriculum.

“This General Convention pledges to continue fighting for the protection of Nepali lands,
including Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura, and calls on the government to strengthen the spirit of nationalism by including the full map passed by the federal parliament in the
curriculum,” the political resolution said.

The Maoists have also demanded the repeal of the unequal treaty agreement, including the
unequal treaty of 1950.
