In Myagdi, orange production increased by 4.53 percent this year

Orange production has increased in Myagdi this year. Compared to last year, the production of oranges has increased by 4.53 percent.

Agriculture Extension Officer at Krishi Gyan Kendra, Govinda Pandey, said that 100 metric
tonnes of oranges were produced more than last year. ”Eighty percent of the oranges produced have been sent to the market,” he said.

Last year, when oranges were cultivated in an area of ​​345 hectares, the production was 2,080 metric tons. Pandey said that 2,180 metric tons of oranges have been produced from the 355 hectares plant this year.

Based on the average price sold by the farmers, oranges worth Rs. 130 million have been
produced in the district. Farmers have been selling oranges at the rate of Rs 50 to Rs 80 per kg.

Oranges are highly produced in Rakhu, Marek, Surkemela, Baranga, Bhedabari, Arman, Runma, Bim, Okharbot, Takam, Ghatan, Piple, Bhagwati, Beg, Dowa, Dosalle, Ghar, Bhurung, Tatopani, Dana and Narchang.

Myagdi oranges are being sold in Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Kathmandu and other places.
According to Tham Bahadur Pun of Beni Municipality-3, the traders used to come to the
orchards to buy oranges.

Oranges worth Rs 15 million have been sold in Rakhu. Farmers have been provided training tocontrol the problem of drought. Farmers and technicians are working to control the problem of seed drop during drying and ripening of plants.
