Supreme Court issues interim order not to appoint Ghimire as CEO

Kathmandu, January 6

The Supreme Court has issued an interim order not to implement the appointment of Ananta Ghimire to the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Lumbini State Infrastructure Development Authority.

A bench of Supreme Court Justice Kumar Regmi has issued an interim order in the name of
Lumbini state government not to appoint Ghimire as CEO.

The then CEO Dhruv Majgaiya had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court alleging that
Ghimire had been appointed by the state government with his term remaining.

The apex court has asked not to implement the decision saying that it has not been given a
chance to be heard and has not been informed of the decision.

The government led by Shankar Pokharel had appointed Majgaiya as the CEO of NEA for a four- year term on Magh 13, 2076. A meeting of the provincial council of ministers held on Asoj 12 after Kul Prasad KC became the chief minister had decided to appoint Ghimire in place of Majgaiya.

Earlier, Ghimire had been appointed as the Managing Director of Power Generation Company Limited under the Ministry of Energy while holding the post of Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Midwestern University. The position of Power Generation Company Limited was lost after the news of taking double facility became public. He was then appointed to the Lumbini State Infrastructure Development Authority.
