School closed due to cold

Schools in Banke have been closed due to extreme cold. The school was closed after the
children fell ill due to the cold.

In Banke, Khajura and Janaki municipalities have closed schools for three days due to the cold weather. Chief of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Ram Suresh Yadav, informed that the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan Municipality has given leave to the children to study at the primary level.

According to him, government schools have been closed due to the cold but private schools
have not. Even in the bitter cold, private schools are playing with children’s health. It has been extremely cold in Banke for the last one year. According to Yadav, the head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, the school has been closed due to the children falling ill.

The local levels have set their own criteria for school closures. Spokesperson Pramod Rijal said that child development and education from class 1 to class 5 in Nepalgunj sub-metropolis has been closed for three days.
