CPN-Maoist Center leader Dev Gurung has said that he is ready for the post of party general secretary.
In a conversation with News Agency Nepal on Wednesday, he said that if there is no agreement on the names of Barshaman Pun and Janardan Sharma for the post of General Secretary, Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will look for a third person. He says he is ready if he is given responsibility while searching for a third person.
He said that in case of disagreement between the two parties, a third consensus candidate
should be sought and senior comrades should be sought for consensus. ”It is not a matter of disregarding the responsibilities set by the leadership, it is not a matter of denying it,” he said.
Leader Gurung said that as there was some homework left on the issue of selection of office bearers, it was necessary to move ahead with the opinion, advice and suggestions of all. ”There is a situation of getting late while doing a little homework. It should be late in order to move forward with everyone’s opinion, consultation and suggestions,” he said.
Leader Barshaman, who is in China for re-treatment, said he was waiting because he had
requested not to select officials until he returned.”Since he has been undergoing treatment for eight years, he should not be made an official until I return. I also have objections against his claim,” he said.
