Complaints can be lodged against the candidates for the National Assembly today

There is an agenda to file a complaint against the candidate for the National Assembly today. The Election Commission has stated that a complaint will be lodged against 43 candidates who registered their candidacies on Tuesday.

If a complaint is lodged against a candidate today, the complaint will be investigated on 22/23 Poush. Similarly, the commission has stated that the candidates will withdraw their names on the 24th and the final list of candidates will be published on the 25th. Election symbol will be given to the candidate on the same day.

The commission has stated that polling will be held from 9 am to 3 pm at the polling station scheduled for Magh 12. Twenty members of the National Assembly have completed their four- year term and are leaving on Falgun 20. One out of 20 will be nominated by the President and 19 will be elected.

According to the commission, three candidates will be elected from Province 1, two from
Province 2, two from Bagmati, three from Gandaki, three from Lumbini, three from Karnali and three from Far West. UML has registered its candidature in all the 19 seats.

The ruling coalition has fielded a common candidate in 19 seats. The Nepali Congress has won 6 seats while the Maoists and the Unified Socialists have won 5/5 seats. Janata Samajwadi Party has won two seats and Rastriya Janamorcha has won one seat.

The Democratic Socialist Party led by Mahanta Thakur has fielded candidates for one seat and the Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party for two seats. However, the election saw competition between the ruling coalition and the main opposition UML.
