The general convention of the CPN-Maoist is underway. Leaders of the group are still giving conclusions on the report of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ under the eighth general convention which started last Sunday.

During the discussion on the report made by 25 groups, 11 groups had presented their findings with suggestions on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Ram Narayan Bidari from State 2, Satyanarayan Bhagat from State 2, Tank Rai from Commission, Gayatri Gurung from Gandaki State, AjambarKambang Rai and Harka Bahadur Nemwang from State 1, Manrishi Dhital from Migration Coordinating Committee, Saral Sahyatri from Bagmati State, Geeta Paneru from Central Department, Far West. On behalf of the remaining 13 groups out of 25, the group leader will present the findings of his group on Thursday. After the presentation of all the 25 groups, Chairman Prachanda has an agenda to respond. On Monday, the first day of the closed session of the General Convention, party president Prachanda presented an ideological and political document titled “The Nepali Way of Socialism in the 21st Century” and Dev Prasad Gurung, a member of the standing committee, presented the draft legislation.

The delegates of the General Convention, numbering about 1700, discussed the two reports and came to a conclusion with suggestions.

The closed session will resume from 11 am on Thursday. Though the General Convention is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, the Maoists are preparing to conclude only on Friday as it takes time to present the results of the group discussion in closed session.

CPN (Maoist Centre) Standing Committee Member Shakti Basnet said that the process of selecting new leadership would begin after the chairperson answers the questions raised on the report.
