Employees of Kumari Bank escaped from banking malpractice case

Kathmandu, December 30

Bank employees have been spared from being charged with banking malpractice in the case of loan disbursement on fake mortgage collateral.

Police have arrested the culprits and filed a case against them. Even though 190 million loans were disbursed on fake collateral, all the loans have been recovered and the public’s deposits have been secured. As the bank management has easily taken out the disbursed loans, the deposits of the public have been avoided and they have been protected from banking malpractice cases.
Singer YogeshworAmatya had lodged a complaint with the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police alleging that he had prepared fake parts of his land.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office had instructed the bureau to investigate the complaint saying that it would also attract banking malpractice cases. The Special Public Prosecutor’s Office has expressed the view that there should be no case of banking malpractice as the bank has already recovered the loan from the bank even before the complaint was lodged against Amatya.

The loan was taken out from Kumari Bank Limited, New Road branch by making fake land registration certificate of the land owned by the company in the name of singer Amatya. On the one hand, the bank has secured the deposits of the public and on the other hand, it has prevented the banking malpractice cases against its employees.

If there was a banking malpractice case, even the bank’s acting CEO Anuj Mani Timilsina would be embarrassed to approve the loan. All the employees have been spared as the issue related to banking malpractice has not been raised. The employees involved in the incident are also happy about this.
