Kathmandu, December 30
The Nepali women’s team that won the Asian Central Zone Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Tuesday and the men’s team that finished fourth are returning home today.
The champion women’s team, men’s team and all the officials will return home today. The team arrived at Tribhuvan Airport at 11:10 am, according to the Orlan Nepal Volleyball Association.
The women’s team defeated Uzbekistan 3-2 in the final of the Central Zone in Bangladesh from December 23 to 28 to win the title undefeated.
The men’s team lost in straight sets to Uzbekistan in the third-place match and failed to win the medal.
Han Abing, the head coach of the men’s team, will return to the Netherlands from Dhaka. He was also dismissed by the officials of the Volleyball Association in Dhaka on Wednesday.
After returning home, the Nepal Volleyball Association will also organize a welcome and congratulatory program for the team at the Curb Hall of the National Sports Council in Tripureshwor.
The government of Nepal has also announced to give Rs 500,000 each to the players of the champion women’s team, Rs 300,000 each to two coaches and Rs 200,000 each to an official.
