7 arrested for gang-rape in Kathmandu’s new bus park

Kathmandu, December 29.

Nine youths have gang-raped a young woman at a guest house at New Bus Park in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Campus SSP Sudip Giri told that seven persons involved in the rape have been arrested.

On Poush 12, Yuvaraj Baduwal, a resident of Mugu, met the 33-year-old girl from Surkhet in the bus park and took her to a guest house. He called Hikmat Nepali from Mugu Chhayanath Rara Municipality and invited him to the guest house. A police investigation has revealed that the two had gang-raped that night. The next morning, seven more men took her to another guest house and raped her.

The accused took her to three guest houses and raped her. Police have arrested Yuvaraj
Baduwal, Hikmat Nepali, Ratan Nepali from Mugu, Suresh Sejuwal, Deepak Nepali, Shivahari Budha and Gopal Kumar Shrees from Arghakhanchi.

Mugu’s Hasta Nepali and Chandra Saud are absconding. The fugitives are being searched, said SSP Giri. The victim has come to Kathmandu from Surkhet to look for work. After her husband went missing in India for a long time, she came to Kathmandu to raise her two children. The incident came to light when he reached the police station screaming as he could not bear the pain.
