Kathmandu, December 27
Two engineers have died in an accident at the 86 MW Solukhola Dudhkoshi Hydropower Project under construction in Solukhambu. Solukhumbu Chief District Officer Ganesh Bikram Shahi informed that two persons working on the project died on the spot after a penstock pipe of the project fell during the test on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Subash Raj Regmi, 26, of Achham and Arjun Thapa, 29, of Kavre. The incident took place after water was poured in the pipe during the test and the part connected with the explosion was released.
According to Asim Rai, chairman of Thulung Dudhkoshi village, they could not be rescued in
time due to bad weather. He was rushed to Okhdhunga Mission Hospital by helicopter but was pronounced dead at the hospital, he said.
He informed that one engineer injured in the incident has been brought to Kathmandu for
treatment.
