Kathmandu, December 26
CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli will be absent from the National General Convention of the CPN-Maoist Center. Oli had informed Chairman Prachanda that he could not come as he was in Jhapa.
Chairman Prachanda had called Oli to invite him to the inauguration ceremony. However, a
member of Prachanda’s secretariat said that Oli could not come and would send General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
UCPN (M) chairperson Prachanda did not attend the inauguration ceremony of the 10th
National General Convention organized by UML in Chitwan. The Maoists had sent Lilamani
Pokhrel, a member of the standing committee.
The inauguration of the 8th National General Convention of the Maoist Center is starting today at Pragya Bhawan, Kamaladi. The UCPN (M) has invited leaders of 11 political parties including Congress and UML to participate in the inauguration ceremony.
Earlier, the Maoists had called for a national conference. But recently, the Maoists have
decided to turn the National Conference into a General Convention.
