SAARC Law Nepal, which has the highest number of judges, has demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Jabra

Kathmandu, December 21

SAARC Law Nepal has demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra.

SAARC Law Nepal is an association of judges, legal practitioners and legal scholars from SAARC nations, chaired by Supreme Court Judge Sapna Malla Pradhan himself and members Anil Kumar Sinha and Hari Phuyal.

Judge Malla was present at the meeting demanding Jabra’s resignation and the rest of the meeting was chaired by Vice-Chairman Tulasi Bhatt.

The meeting concluded that the Chief Justice was seen as an obstacle for the overall reform of the court by controlling distortions, inconsistencies and corruption, deviating from the constitutional obligation to enhance the credibility and public trust of the court and lack of minimum post responsibility, constitutional conduct and moral and efficiency.

SAARC Law Nepal concludes that Jabra failed to provide judicial leadership due to lack of judicial qualities and efficiency, good conduct and even conduct for judicial leadership.

He said that the Nepal Bar Association, the Supreme Court and the judiciary have lost faith in Jabar and even the judiciary, the Constitutional Council, the Judicial Council and the Judicial Service Commission could not function in his presence.

SAARC Law Nepal said in a statement that “the immediate departure of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra to end the current crisis is an imperative for the independence, clean and impartiality of the judiciary as a whole.” SAARC Law Nepal has also appealed to the Parliament, political parties and stakeholders to fulfill their constitutional obligation for the exit of Jabra.
