UML’s response to the all-party meeting: There is no seriousness and responsibility in the government

The main opposition party CPN-UML will not participate in the all-party meeting
convened by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday.

Prime Minister Deuba has called an all-party meeting on Sunday at 4 pm to
discuss issues including opening the parliament and moving the MCC forward.
However, the CPN-UML has stated that it will not participate in the all-party
meeting as there is no point in attending the meeting as it has only completed the
formalities.

CPN-UML Vice Chairman Subash Nemwang, who is also the Deputy Leader of the
Parliamentary Party, said that there was no point in attending the meeting. “It
simply came to our notice then. There is no seriousness and no responsibility. We
are seriously questioning the situation, we are blocking the House, not the
interest,” said Vice President Nemwang.

He also said that the government did not have any serious discussions with his
party. “No one has spoken to us seriously in this case. In such a situation, there is
an all-party meeting at this time of the day, it is just a formality to come,” said
Nemwang. Leader Nemwang also said that the government’s treatment of the
main opposition was not right. “We are the main opposition, so we have to have
responsible discussions with the main opposition,” Nemwang said.

CPN-UML has been continuously obstructing the sittings of the parliament since
last Bhadra 23. Meanwhile, a meeting of the ruling coalition has been called
before the all-party meeting at 4 o’clock. Rastriya Janamorcha vice-chairperson
Durga Poudel informed that a meeting of the alliance was convened at 2 pm.
