UML will not attend the all-party meeting

Kathmandu, December 19

The main opposition party CPN-UML will not participate in the all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Prime Minister Deuba has called an all-party meeting this afternoon to open the UML’s obstruction in the House and discuss the MCC. However, UML chief whip Vishal Bhattarai said that the party would not participate in the meeting.

Earlier, UML had participated in the all-party meeting convened by the Speaker on 11 June and the Prime Minister on 30 September. The meeting was boycotted by the UML leaders as Madhav Nepal, chairman of the CPN-UML, was present at the meeting.

UML has not joined the regular proceedings of the parliament saying that the speaker has played a supportive role in splitting the party. UML had protested throughout the annual convention and in the first meeting of the winter session. The second meeting of the winter session is being held on December 21 at 1 pm.
