Gagan and Bishwa Prakash in the Congress General Secretary

Kathmandu, December 16, 2021

Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have been elected general secretaries
of the Nepali Congress.

Thapa was elected as the two General Ministers from the 14th General
Convention of the Nepali Congress with 3023 votes and Sharma with 1984 votes.

Competitors of the General Secretary Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahatle 1550, Pradip
Poudel 1409, Dr. Minendra Rijal 809 and Dr. Rajaram Karki got 107 votes.

The Congress Central Election Committee has yet to announce the final results of
the counting of votes held at the party headquarters in Sanepa.

Dr. Thapa Shekhar Koirala was contesting from the panel and Sharma Prakashman
Singh was contesting from the panel.

From the Sher Bahadur Deuba group, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat and Pradip
Poudel and, Dr. Gagan Thapa and Dr. Minendra Rijal from Shekhar Koirala group
were competing. Bishwa Prakash Sharma from the Prakash Man Singh group and
Dr. Rajaram Karki from the Bimalendra Nidhi group were also contesting for the
post.

A total of 4,679 votes were cast in the polls held at Bhrikuti Mandap on Monday.
