Kathmandu, December 16,
Defense Minister Dr. Minendra Rijal has announced his resignation. Rijal has
announced his resignation after the number of votes dropped during the counting
of votes for the post of General Secretary.
On social media, Rijal wrote, “I have decided to resign from the post of Minister of
Defense in view of the clear message received from the preliminary results of the
post of General Secretary I competed for in the 14th General Convention of the
Nepali Congress. As soon as I get the final result, I will submit my resignation to
the Hon’ble Prime Minister.”
Among the 6 contestants for the post of General Secretary, Dr. Rijal is in fifth
place. Dr. Rijal Shekhar Koirala’s group is the general secretary candidate.
